How to create a Bybit account for beginners

Bybit is a global exchange popular for spot and derivative products. This guide focuses on beginners: safe signup on the official site, KYC, 2FA, then deposit. Type the official domain manually (typically bybit.com) and download the app only from official stores.

1. Practical requirements

  • Age per Bybit rules (often 18+ in many jurisdictions — follow what is shown at signup).
  • Valid email or phone number.
  • KTP or passport for KYC.
  • Phone with camera for face verification.

2. Step-by-step registration

  1. Open official Bybit → click Sign Up.
  2. Choose email or phone, create a strong password.
  3. Enter verification OTP.
  4. Complete captcha / initial security steps.
  5. Log in → go directly to the account security center.
Avoid mirror/phishing sites: check domain spelling. Never enter a seed phrase — exchanges do not use seeds like self-custody wallets.

3. Enable 2FA before depositing

  1. Account → Security → Google Authenticator (or available 2FA option).
  2. Scan QR, save backup key offline.
  3. Confirm with 6-digit code + password.
  4. Optional: enable email alerts and anti-phishing code.

4. Identity Verification (KYC Level 1)

KYC is required for full limits, larger withdrawals, and many features (P2P, etc., depending on policy).

  1. Click profile icon → Identity Verification.
  2. Select country/region: Indonesia (if you live there and hold Indonesian ID).
  3. Choose document: KTP or passport.
  4. Upload clear KTP photos (front; back if requested) — no glare, all corners visible.
  5. Complete face verification: follow movements (turn head, blink, etc.).
  6. Submit and wait for review (often 1–24 hours; longer when busy).
Form name must match KTP exactly. Avoid abbreviations. If rejected, read the reason in the app and retake photos.

5. Safe deposit

  1. Assets → Deposit.
  2. Choose coin (e.g. USDT) and a network you understand.
  3. Copy Bybit address; double-check characters.
  4. Send a small test transfer from another wallet/exchange.
  5. After on-chain confirmation and balance arrives, increase amount.

For fiat/P2P: only trade with reputable merchants, understand escrow, do not move chat off-platform during payment.

6. Trading: safe order for beginners

  • Start with Spot → understand order book and fees.
  • Postpone Derivatives / leverage until you understand margin and funding.
  • Do not share API keys with withdraw permission.
  • Set a plan: how much risk capital, not “get rich this week.”
